It blows my mind to think that a police officer responding to a routine call could be in such a bizarre situation. The facts show clearly that this was not a race thing but it was a case of an officer keeping control of a situation that had spiraled out of control. How can anyone see it any other way after reviewing all the facts?

If the race champions like Gates want to move forward they need to stop acting like victims all the time. How can the majority work with the minority if the minority refuses to make an effort? It's so sad. All this has done is drive another wedge into race relations.

And the saddest part is that the people who caused the issue to escalate; Gates, Obama and Patrick, refuse to make an apology and admit they were wrong. I don't get it. Part of being being human is making mistakes and poor judgments. Part of being a man and a leader is admitting when you are wrong and moving forward.

You Say You Want a Revolution?

This blog entry is in response some recent comments made by my friend Kevin in his blog. You can read it here for a point of reference.

I wonder sometimes if my view of the world is a result of true reality or a result of my place in life. Sometimes I think I have become my parents, which is something I swore I would never be. But looking at life I see how wrong that thinking was.

I look at the things my parents and grandparents taught me. Respect, loyalty, work ethic, honesty and integrity are a few words I could use to describe what they gave me. What I see happening is that many of these attributes are being misused or just thrown to the side of the road. We see it happening at all levels. Our own President and his staff are grossly lacking in many of these areas.

Who is to blame for this break down? Well, that's a fairly complicated issue. I am a firm believer that societies problems are a result of many complicated, overlapping events and ideas. But what always seems to come to the forefront for me how easy Americans have had it for the past 30-50 years. Oh sure, there have been a few things that have been blips in the radar (9-11, a couple of foreign wars, a few small recessions... to name a few) but for the most part America has been a land of prosperity and "easy living". As human being we always strive to move forward and better ourselves. In this prosperous time the things we have turned to in order to accomplish this are not necessarily the right things. We've watered down education in the name of progression. We've stomped on respect and integrity in the name of free expression. We've killed loyalty and honesty in the name of self interest. We've killed our work ethic in the name of a quick buck.

Yes, corruption is as old as mankind, but the tolerance of that corruption in recent years is what makes me itch. It's not a liberal or conservative issue as many in the political world and the media would have you believe. It's not political at all, it's a social disease. America was not a political idea, it was a social idea. But we have lost sight of that and things have turned into chaos because of it.

I have been telling people for over 20 years now that there is a revolution coming. America was founded on tenants that are no longer being followed in our society. The Constitution is basically ignored or twisted by progressive thinking. We are now seeing things come to a head. As more and more people suffer job loss and financial struggles we will see society become less tolerant of the corruption. It's only a matter of time before there is a major uprising in the US. Will this be in the form of a military revolution? I'm not so sure. But I do know that there will be something coming, maybe even in my lifetime.

New and Improved

It's new... It's improved... but it probably won't make your underwear any whiter.

I've made an attempt at blogging a few times. This blog, for example, was meant to be a political opinion blog. But life has a way of taking top priority. There are bills to pay, children to feed, lawns to mow, dishes to wash and dogs to walk. So finding the time to keep up with the fast moving world of politics became and overwhelming task.

But after reading a friend's blog (thanks Kevin... I will be sure to link you up here) I decided to pick the task back up. Only this time I am going to write about the world around me, how I see this world and where I think this world is going. The posts will be more general focusing on family, community and society than dealing with specifics of politicians and political events.

I hope you enjoy the direction I have chosen to take this blog and maybe it will inspire you to write about your world in some fashion.
